1. Hotel Pick-Up – Scenic Drive

• Short stops can be made to see how locals grow coffee, candlenut, cacao, and seasonal fruits, which are essential for both food and trade.

2. Melo Village

• A traditional Manggarai village located on a highland plateau with sweeping views over Labuan Bajo and the surrounding islands.

• Guests will be greeted with a village welcome ceremony, which may include areca nut (sirih pinang) offering as a symbol of hospitality.

• Here, visitors can walk around, see the traditional Mbaru Gendang (drum houses), and connect with the local community.

• Before the main Caci Dance, the villagers often perform a series of welcoming dances accompanied by traditional gongs and drums.

• These dances showcase the joy, spirit, and harmony of Manggarai culture, while involving colorful costumes and rhythmic movements.

4. Caci Dance (Highlight)

• The Caci Dance is the highlight of the tour — a ritual whip fight performed by two male dancers.

• One dancer uses a whip (larik) while the other defends with a shield (nggiling) and a stick.

• The performance is both symbolic and artistic, representing:

  • Heroism → strength and courage of Manggarai men.

  • Solidarity → fighting in honor, not anger.

  • Friendship → despite the duel, both dancers embrace afterward as a sign of respect.

• Accompanied by energetic traditional music, the dance is thrilling to watch and deeply rooted in Manggarai rituals, once performed during harvest festivals, weddings, or thanksgiving ceremonies.
